100823: Depression and Mania in Patients With HIV/AIDS

This course presents an overview of information for health care professionals on aspects of screening, diagnosis, and treatment of mania and depression in HIV/AIDS patients. Traditional and alternative therapies are presented, as are guidelines for working with patients having co-morbid medical and/or psychological disorders.

Course Objectives:

1. Describe how depression and mania express themselves in HIV/AIDS patients.

2. Become familiar with screening, diagnosis, and treatment of HIV/AIDS patients with depression or mania.

3. Be able to explain circumstances that may complicate treatment of the depressed or manic HIV/AIDS patient.
